Josselin Soto Machuca

Biography

Josselin Soto Machuca is a metalsmith and jewelry artist based in Texas, born in Mexico and raised in the borderlands of both places. She earned her BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from Texas State University, where she began developing a studio practice rooted in sculptural form, bold color, and questions of cultural identity. Her work brings together meticulous metalwork and playful details, creating jewelry that is designed to be lived with and to invite conversation.

Drawing from family stories, memory, and everyday ritual, Josselin transforms personal narrative into contemporary adornment. Motifs such as pomegranates inspired by a tree at a heritage family home or lively luchador masks become symbols of joy, resilience, and belonging. Each piece carries the spirit of Mexican culture while embracing a fresh, contemporary sensibility, offering viewers a vivid glimpse into a world where color, history, and imagination meet at the scale of the body.

Josselin’s work can be experienced at Sifuentes Metalsmith & Equinox Gallery in San Antonio’s historic La Villita, where her jewelry is part of a curated collection of contemporary art jewelry.
